Cactus

A water-fat desert cactus, armoured in spines. Hack at it with a hatchet or axe (a knife barely scratches it): now and then a blow cuts loose a Cactus Chunk, and felling it gives one or two more. Bitter going down, but in the dry country its moisture may be all that stands between you and the sun.
