Raiding & Defense
A rival's camp is only as strong as its weakest wall — and every wall comes down to the right tool.
BREAKING IN
- Wood — axes, hatchets and heavy tools hack through wooden walls, doors and furniture; a lit Torch sets them ablaze to burn on their own.
- Stone — only the ore-tools bite into stonework: the Stone or Iron Sledgehammer, and the Pickaxe.
- Iron — iron doors, gates and fixtures (the Anvil, Strongbox and Cauldron) yield to nothing but an Iron Sledgehammer — or an explosion.
- Powder & fire — a thrown Explosive Bomb's blast damages any build; a planted Explosive Charge hits harder still; an Incendiary Bomb sets wooden builds alight but does nothing to stone or iron.
HOLDING GROUND
- Build in stone and iron — each tier is far tougher, and the costlier tools needed to breach it turn raiders away.
- Repair between attacks — hold a hammer of the build's tier or better and spend its material: any hammer + Wood for wood, a Stone or Iron Hammer + Stone for stone, an Iron Hammer + Iron for iron.
- Douse fires early — aim at a burning build with a Full Waterskin to beat the flames down a stage at a time before they spread.
- Lay traps — a Bear Trap, Spike Trap, Incendiary Trap or Poison Trap set in an attacker's path makes the approach cost blood.
LOCK IT DOWN
- A Strongbox or Chest can be LOCKED by its owner — aim at it and press G. Once locked, no one else can open it, and even you must Unlock it (G) before opening.
- A locked box can still be forced: aim and press L to pick it with a Lockpick (crafted at the Workbench from Iron Scraps). Feel out the sweet spot before the pick snaps — a failed attempt breaks the Lockpick, and a Strongbox's lock resists far harder than a Chest's.
- A picked lock springs open for good, so a box you find unlocked is a sign someone has been inside.
